To help you get off to a good start we have put together a short list of dating tips from feedback that we have received from daters at various London speed dating events.
Think Of Some Questions In Advance
You are going to be dating quite a few people during the night so try and think of some questions, and remember that the people you meet are going to get bored of the same questions being asked by each date. Think of some alternative and interesting questions other than “What do you do for work?”. If you need some help here are a few sample questions, “What superpower would you most like to have?”, “What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?” as these can help you start a conversation. Remember it is not an interview though. We do recommend this list of great speed dating questions.
You have just a few minutes to sell yourself. Don’t talk about anything negative, i.e. about how you lost your job, or that you can’t find work and have had to move in with your parents and so on. Don’t mention ex-girlfriends, bad breakups or the fact that your family forced you to go to speed dating to get you out of the house because you’ve been pretty depressed recently. Have a positive attitude at all times and you are more likely to be successful in life, not just in dating.
Say Goodbye After Each Date
Don’t feel like you have to rush to get to the next date; calmly finish your sentence, be polite and move on and say goodbye politely. You don’t need to go in for a hug just look you partner in the eye and say how very nice it was to meet them. Try Not To Be Creepy. You won’t mean to be, but if you try to get their contact details and ask what street they live on or suggest meeting up afterwards, they may take it the wrong way. Don’t push it even if you are only trying to make conversation.
Do Dress Up
There is no dress code but you do tend to find that the most successful daters have made an effort with their appearance. Most of the girls will have waxed and polished and powdered and sprayed. You don’t need to go over the top; just wear something that you feel is smart and that you will be comfortable in and also show off a bit of your personality.
